Getting an Offer
There is no set of rules to getting offered a Hermes Special Order, Some people have shopped for years at the boutique and haven’t had a special order and some have gotten an offer at the very start of their Hermes journey. It appears to be unmethodical but there are a few basic recommendations we have to get you closer to this experience.
Building a good relationship with your sales associate and being clear about what you want. If your goal is a special order once you are comfortable with your SA, tell them what you are hoping for. There is no harm in being frank, you are the customer.
The Consultation
Once you have gotten an offer, you will be given a consultation at your appointment where your SA will present to you many different types of bag options available for your pick. For example, they could give you a choice of the Birkin 30, Birkin 25, Kelly 25, or Mini Kelly with a limited set of colors, leathers, stitching, and hardware.
You Design Your Dream Bag
Once you have gotten your options, you will now be able to create your Special Order bag. You will be designing every aspect of the bag down to the stitching. They have all the materials there so you can see and test out what you like together and what you don’t.
This is the most exciting and most stressful part of the process. Most people want to get everything correct and will feel a lot of pressure but your sales associate will be there to guide you and calm your nerves with valuable information and all the commentary you need.
Sent into Production
Once you finish and fill out all the paperwork it will be sent to be approved, where they might need to make a few modifications so the bag is realistically constructible for the artisans to make. Then production which can take from 5 months up to two years depending upon the bag’s complexity. It is a very hard waiting game because you never know approximately when your dream bag will arrive, but very worth it!
You get the call and Your Bag is Waiting for you
After what may seem like forever, your bag arrives in the store and your SA will contact you. Up till this point, you have absolutely no obligation to this Special Order. The payment is not made until the bag is in store, and you can decide to take it or the boutique will offer it to someone else. If you choose to take it home with you the price is no more than your average Hermes bag, there is no price increase for special orders.
